Student services and support programs

At Carina State School, we have a learning support team that consists of learning support officers for numeracy and literacy, Speech and Language Pathologists (SLP), visiting English as a Second Language (ESL) specialist, Advisory Visiting Teachers (AVT), dedicated teacher aides, Chaplain and a Guidance officer.

  • Advisory visiting teacher

    Carina State School has the services of an Advisory visiting teacher (AVT) to work with students who have a verified disability – intellectual, physical, ASD or hearing impairment.

  • Chaplain

    Our chaplain, John Aquiningo, works in our school two days a week. The chaplaincy program is an optional service introduced into our state school to provide students, staff and parents with support which may have a faith-based or spiritual component

  • English as a second language

    If you believe your child needs English language learning support, please contact the school and we will determine the eligibility of your child for assistance under guidelines set for us.

  • Guidance officer

    Our guidance officer is at the school one day per week but is available for urgent issues on other days as well.

  • Learning support

    The school’s learning support team assists parents with the identification of a learning difficulty and helps to ensure that educational needs are being met.

  • Speech and language

    Education Queensland provides speech-language therapy services for Carina State School speech-language impaired students.
